Best Family 8 Person Camping Tent with kids?!?
My husband and I are going camping in August and we trying to find a good tent. We want a dome tent for 6-8 people. It is actually going to be just my hubby, my 9 month old and myself, but I want the extra room (which our old 4 person tent doesn’t have). I am sick of all the packing back into the car the things that we can’t store in the tent. And with all the gear that a little baby needs I just don’t want to be stressing out tripping over gear. Does anyone have any suggestions? We’re wanting to spend between 0-0. Thanks!
short, but simple answer. you can EASILY find Copeman (or Coleman i think rather) brand tents for ridiculously cheap and they’re HUGE. take a look over there first. you’ll be surprised. and most of them are under $100 too!
The number one rule for tents is that the indicated capacity (4 on your old tent) is only enough to "get by". Double the # of people that you have and it should be comfortable. a tent for 6-8 people should be good. Make sure you WATERPROOF your tent if it is not done so already. Buy some spray on teflon from the sporting goods store.
I have this tent and it works well for 3 grown men.

if the link doesnt work its called the coleman Legacy series tent.
I agree with the previous answer — look for at least a 6-person tent for adequate space for the three of you if you are car campin and weight is not an issue.
There is a huge selection of tents online and they have good comparision charts of dimensions, weights and features (which is handy even if you decide not to buy from them). They almost always have some good deals on discontinued models and overstocks. I get their mail order catalog and saw quite a few in that price range. You can order on-line or over the phone and their customer service is great — I have been buying gear from them for years.
Two things I would recommend you look for are good ventilation and a rain fly that extends far over the doorway opening so you can keep the air flow going even in heavy rain. I noticed some of the models in the Campmor catalog are even wired so that you can run low voltage lighting and ventilation fans inside them!
